As many local friends know, since retiring as a pastor five years ago, I felt the Spirit calling me to a new vocation, that of photojournalist and interfaith peace maker. Yesterday Serviam Media, a local not-for-profit corporation, elected me chairman of their Board of Directors. I want to share a little about Serviam Media in this post, because one of its projects, called Community Camera, is ready to help your community of faith use video for publicizing its good work in our community.
Serviam means “I will serve.” Serviam Media, Inc was formed in 2002 for the purpose of creating educational programming, digital media, and outreach initiatives to inform, inspire and empower diverse audiences. The company partners with organizations, institutions, and individuals throughout the nation to create programs that will foster human understanding, multi-cultural appreciation, and civic engagement.
Serviam Media is serving our state with two major initiatives:
- Content Delaware, a free, easy-to-use online news service, using video to deliver information and news to First Staters, and persons interested in all-things-Delaware.
- Community Camera, a channel of Content Delaware, exhibits short videos of public interest produced by local filmmakers. You don’t have to be a professional to get your short films shown. Please visit the Community Camera video stream to get an idea of the kinds of things that local film makers are posting. If you are an amateur video enthusiast who wants to get the word out about your organization’s good work in our community, this is your show place! Video may well be the best way to tell your story!
If you need some technical help putting a first movie together, shoot me an email and I’ll get you started!
